ASPIRE is a multidisciplinary program of activities at Columbia University dedicated to innovative approaches and responses to the Syrian Refugee crisis.

Directed by Nabila El-Bassel and Neeraj Kaushal, ASPIRE achieves its mission through three activities:

Ongoing Research

ASPIRE promotes the use of evidence-based practices for Syrian refugees and equips professionals in Jordan and Turkey to address the needs of this vulnerable group.

Consortium

A central aim of ASPIRE is to establish a consortium of faculty committed to identifying the needs of Syrian refugees in Jordan and Turkey in the areas of research, education, training and service.

student engagement

ASPIRE provides opportunities for students to become involved in a highly relevant humanitarian situation, through CU coursework, field-level research and community outreach events.
